Leaves In a Bowl

Artist: Charlexia Witcher
For this project, I named my artwork “Leaves in a Bowl" because I created a bowl out of clay and had the outside and inside of my bowl as leaves. I feel that the leaves gave the bowl a lot of rough and a variety of different textures. The elements that I emphasized in my artwork is shapes and lines. I emphasized shapes by using the outline of the leaves. Throughout this project, it was very challenging to figure out what design represented an elephant as close as possible. I emphasized lines by creating the detailed lines within my leaves. I tried a lot of different patterns but when I couldn't get my bowl how I wanted it to look, I would change to another pattern. At the beginning of my project I decided to use the potters wheel but it took to long for me to get the technique right so I just decided to make my bowl by using the technique called "slump mold." It took me a very long time to get my project done and I had a lot of help from the instructor. I think my bowl turned out good but it could have been better.
